Everything about our stay at Elk Hollow was 5 star. Our yurt, the Shakonohey, was warm and cozy as temperatures dipped at night. It was roomy with well appointed furnishings that fit in well with the glamping/cabin theme. The large deck surrounding the yurt was perfect for sitting and enjoying the surrounding woods. It was quiet and felt private even though there were other yurts nearby. Communication with owner, Jeanetta, was met with quick responses. We were issued prompt emails before check in and check out with pertinent information. We enjoyed the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad excursion. If you don't have children, we recommend reserving first class which includes a meal while sitting at a window table. We wholeheartedly recommend this resort! ~ Janet H

We stayed in the tent called “ Huckleberry” I was a little unsure because we had never stayed in anything like this but let me tell you it was absolutely amazing!!! It was exactly like the pictures and video. Huckleberry was just what we needed to get away for our 34 wedding anniversary. The host was very informative and detailed no one bothered us and every detail was perfect. We will be back !!! Huckleberry did not disappointed and by the way the first thing we saw when we walked up on the deck were pillows in the outdoor furniture that said “ I’ll Be Your Huckleberry” so appropriate and it made it that much more special. Thank you for this wonderful quaint place and again we will be back !! 😊❤️ ~ Stacy H

Highly recommend a stay here. Bryson city is amazing, the location is like 7 minutes away. You have everything you need and then some! The host is communicative and responds fast. She’s super helpful as well. I stayed with my boyfriend and we had a wonderful time. The surrounding forest is beautiful and serene, and the whole experience is just perfect. There’s a nice kitchen if you wanna cook, but there are a ton of great food places in Bryson City. The bed is super comfortable, the space is cozy and intimate. You can walk the surrounding area, or drive a couple of minutes for some other trails, the great Smokey mountains are like 5 minutes away. It’s really perfect if you want a peaceful, adventurous yet relaxing getaway. If you get a chance to stay in the area, this place is worth a stay for a couple of nights. ~ April

This is the perfect location if you want to tube, raft or otherwise partake in the Nantahal River’s recreational offerings. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is 7 minutes away. The entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is 7 minutes away, more specifically the trail head for the Deep Creek Falls access where you can take a 1 hour hike and see 3 waterfalls. The Yurt we stayed in “Hidden Falls” was absolutely perfect. It’s truly a luxurious experience. Everything is so clean and the attention to detail relating to the decor and amenities are so thought out and perfectly executed. We will 100% be returning to this resort to either this same yurt or to check out a different lodge within the same resort. ~ Raymond L

The Yurt is beautiful and well appointed, and bonus, the bed is really comfortable to! There was nothing lacking; you can tell a lot thought and care was put into this lovely place. We loved the quiet and beautiful view and the feeling of being in nature. When not in the fabulous hot tub you could find us sitting on the porch drinking coffee. We also liked the easy access and location. Very close to town but you feel like you are far away from it all. We will definitely book here again. Finally, the host, Jeanetta, is fantastic. Very accessible and responsive to all my questions. Very easy to work with. In today’s world of impersonal customer service Jeanetta is an unexpected breath of fresh air. 5 stars from us! ~ Lisa L

“Unforgettable Safari Getaway!” Our stay at Firefly in Bryson City was nothing short of magical! The location is stunning, nestled in the serene NC mountains. The glamping safari tents were beautifully designed—spacious, comfortable, and equipped with all the modern amenities while still feeling close to nature. We loved the cozy firepit setup under the stars, and the hosts went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The proximity to outdoor activities like hiking and exploring the Great Smoky Mountains made this an ideal escape. We recently stayed at Elk Hollow in the Swallowtail safari tent. This was a serene get away for our anniversary. Our host, Jeanetta, was welcoming and answered any questions we had during our stay. The kitchen cabinets were well stocked with everything we needed to cook and grill including spices that we forgot. The A/C unit kept us cool. The deck with the hot tub was secluded and we enjoyed our meals out there. It rained once while we were visiting and we stayed dry under the canopy. Our mattress was comfortable and the tub/showers are beautiful. It is very close to Bryson City where we enjoyed the shops & ice cream at the end of the driveway. I saw some say the hills were steep. Maybe, however, we were able to trailer our 4x4 up to the tent and had plenty of room to park it. This is “glamping” at its finest. We would return. ~ JudahKidsTN J

We stayed in the Firefly tent for three nights, and it was a fantastic experience. The tent was beautifully designed, well built, and incredibly comfortable. The location was perfect—just about 10 minutes from downtown Bryson City and right at the entrance of a national park, which made hiking easy and accessible. The property was peaceful and scenic. My wife and I spent most afternoons lounging on the deck, reading, and enjoying the beautiful weather—it was the perfect way to unwind. While we never needed anything during our stay, the staff’s communication was always prompt and helpful. It was clear they were attentive and available if needed. If you're looking for a relaxing, stress-free getaway in nature, this is the place to go. We truly enjoyed every minute and would absolutely come back. ~ Daniel S

Wife and I stayed here in one of the safari tents for a birthday getaway, and we absolutely loved it! The accommodations are so unique, and unlike anything we had ever stayed in before. Favorite feature was definitely the hot tub; but we also built a fire one of the nights and enjoyed hanging out inside the tent too. With the full kitchen, it made it easy to cook meals in and relax. The nearby hiking is gorgeous, we enjoyed seeing several waterfalls. Bryson City is also such a cute little town, and was all decorated for the holidays when we were there. Overall we had a great time and would highly recommend this to anyone considering it. You will not be disappointed. ~ Michael B

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend stay in the Safari tent at Elk Hollow. Such a fun, unique experience! Think of luxury camping with all the comforts of home. The tent was in excellent, very clean condition. So many little touches to make it an extra enjoyable stay. Wonderful shower and tub, full-size kitchen, and great hot tub. Relaxing just to sit on the deck in the morning and drink a cup of coffee or take in the beauty of the surroundings. You can hear the sounds from the little brook below. The tent has an AC/heater so temperature is comfortable, but because it’s a tent you can still hear the nature sounds outside. Can’t say enough how much we enjoyed our stay. Great hiking nearby and several neat little shops and restaurants/eateries close by. Highly recommend for a relaxing and/or romantic getaway! Property owner was so kind and very responsive. ~ Thomas N

Elk Hollow Resort is incredible! My wife prefers experiences over gifts for her birthday and sent me a link to Elk Hollow Resort. So, we celebrated her birthday in Bryson City this weekend. It was amazing! We were absolutely blown away when we arrived Friday evening to our Yurt in the tree tops, Huckleberry. It is clear they spared no expense in building and furnishing these Yurts. They paid attention to every detail to ensure you experience a perfect getaway. Our room was beautiful! We cooked out and enjoyed our dinner on the patio and enjoyed relaxing each evening in our personal hot tub/jacuzzi. We even had a welcome visit from a cute little furry friend of the resort, Jorga! ~ Dave E

Everything about Elk Hollow screams home! The Huckleberry tent was absolutely incredible and I swear the Elk Hollow team thought of everything one could possibly need while staying there! I especially want to thank Jeannetta! She was incredibly kind and was quick to respond to all of our inquiries! Thank you so much for providing such an amazing place to stay! My husband was also very impressed! We hadn’t even entered the tent on our first night when we started talking about extending our stay because it was so magical! We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation spot for our honeymoon! Other than the tent, the sunrise from the patio and the short drive to Oconaluftee to see the Elk also made this magical! If you’re a planner like me and you’re debating between Elk Hollow and somewhere else, hands down choose Elk Hollow! I am so glad that we did! ~ Noralena T

If you want a place to escape the busyness of life this is the place. Elk Hallow exceeded our expectations! We stayed in The Safari tent. It was immaculate, the decor was so well thought out, with some of the neatest little details. We spent the majority of our 5 days right there on the porch grilling out and relaxing in the hot tub. The canopy of leaves and the smell of spring all around you. They have a beautiful nature trail that goes throughout the property with well built wooden bridges crossing the creek that ends at an area with wooden swings to sit and enjoy all the nature around you. We will definitely be back and will share with all we know what a great place to escape to. ~ Carrie S

We stayed in Foxfire, a 2 bedroom visit for the weekend with another couple. We were there March 2024, the weather was beautiful during the day and although temperatures dropped at night the unit has heat. The beds were comfy, showers plenty of hot water and the kitchen is well stocked including a kettle for the stove and both a Keri’s and drip coffee maker. The outside deck has a lot of space with plenty of places to sit and relax including the hot top. We took wood to sit by the fire pit but at the time were there the area had a burn ban. It is such a lovely peaceful place to get away chill, relax and enjoy the out doors in comfort. We will definitely go back ~ Sarah R

We were looking for a unique Glamping experience to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday. We came across Elk Hollow Resort. I must say, we were very pleased with our decision to stay here. Our accommodations; we stayed in one of their two bedroom yurts 🛖 which were extremely comfortable and appointed perfectly. It had all the comforts of home and nothing was lacking. The peacefulness and privacy surpassed our expectations. The location allowed us to easily get back-and-forth to the village and to the Smoky Mountain National Park. We drove up the mountain further to see some of the other units and were amazed at the size and their locations. Looks like a perfect spot for a reunion or group getaway. My dealings with Jeanetta were extremely pleasant and she responded to any questions I had in a timely manner. Overall, an excellent experience and I would recommend to anyone wishing to explore this area. ~ Walter S

If you are looking for a mountain, get away, this is the place to go! We stayed in the Lost Creek Safari tent, and it was absolutely amazing. We hadn't even stayed the night and were ready to book our next vacation here. The deck with the hot tub was our favorite spot to be when we weren't touring around the area. For a lot of rental spots, they cheap out on the beds but not Elk Hollow. We had some of the best sleeps here from a comfy bed to natures sounds. Jeanette is the host of this amazing gem, and she is great with communicating and getting back to you quickly. We can't wait for our next stay here!! ~ Michael T

This is the place you want to be if you're thinking of spending a weekend or longer in the Bryson City or Great Smoky National Park area. Seriously, if you have been searching and researching places to stay you can stop now and book here. We stayed in the Laughing Water Yurt and this being our first Yurt experience we were blown away! Some may call this glamping and that's fine call it what you want but I will call it the best place I have stayed at to date and it was 10x better than a hotel or an AirBnB. Jeanetta was so welcoming and hospitable and checked in on us via email and was also very easy to get a hold of with any issues. The Yurt itself was amazing! Pictures and words will not give this place justice it looks so much better in person. Not to mention you're only 20-30 mins away from the Great Smoky National Park. We are already in the process of booking again in the future. 10/10 recommend! ~ Jay B

What a super fun place!! We spent our 34th anniversary here and found it to be very romantic! The location is beautiful and the accommodations are top notch right down to the minor details. Jeanetta has done an amazing job making sure you have everything to make your stay a truly unforgettable experience. The Aztec tent was super clean and comfortable. The surrounding area is gorgeous and chocked full of activities for the outdoor enthusiasts or even those looking for a relaxing and peaceful getaway. I'm really struggling with whether or not to give a review because I'm already certain we'll be scheduling another stay in the future and I don't want the place to become too popular. I've never stayed at a place like this where the photos and the description actually not only met expectations but far exceeded them. You can always tell by the types of furnishing that are put into a rental unit whether or not the owners actually use it themselves. The quality and care shows. From the fact that they actually provide two different coffee makers, to the finishing touches like the soft comfortable blankets and plush pillows, it makes you feel at home. The location is also the perfect balance of isolated and conveniently close enough to shopping, great restaurants, and plenty of outdoor activities. I'm pretty sure we'll be back, so YES! I highly recommend this place (just don't tell too many people, I don't want any problems reserving it next year) ~ Bret C

We stayed at Laughing Waters Yurt and it was an amazing and relaxing location. Jeanette was always helpful and responsive. The unit was immaculately clean, and the kitchen was completely equipped with any utensils or pots and pans desired. The weather was cold, and it took about 3 hours to warm the building up as it had not been heated for a few days (probably). The hot tub more than offset the time and coldness. Walking trails were easily accessible and walked along a babbling brook with small rapids and waterfalls. We will keep this on our list of preferred getaways. ~ Michael P

We had a wonderful long weekend at Lookout Lodge. We were really pleased with the spaciousness of the bedrooms, the details of the bathrooms, the comfort of all the furniture, and the tremendous options for fun. The kitchen was really well stocked, and that made our meal times easy. They thought of everything. We especially enjoyed the game table, the ample seating on the deck, and the fire pit. There is also a hot tub, ping pong, corn hole, etc. More than you can possibly get to. Mornings are peaceful and sunsets are stunning. This was a fantastic getaway, and we will be back. ~ Laurie S

We are a large-ish family traveling with three generations. Lookout Lodge offered us plenty of space to unpack and settle in but also ample space to gather together, which was delightful. The house is gorgeous and impeccably clean and comfortable. We could have been perfectly happy staying in all weekend, playing games, soaking in the hot tub, and enjoying s’mores by the fire pit. The Mountain View’s are lovely and we always enjoy hiking in the GSM and riding the Polar Express. I hope we will be able to return to this pristine property. Perfect New Year Retreat! My husband and I chose this location for our New Year’s retreat, and it exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the “Lost Creek” tent, which was beautiful and private with all the glamping amenities we could ask for. Although the weather wasn’t great, we didn’t mind staying cozy inside and watching a series—the internet was stable and strong. There was a power outage on the first night due to a storm, but the tent stayed warm and everything was back to normal by morning. The location is fantastic, right in front of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We went on a beautiful 2-mile hike and highly recommend it! The trails are well-maintained, and I saw three stunning waterfalls in just an hour of walking. While downtown was mostly closed, we managed to visit a chocolate shop, and it was absolutely delicious. We’re already planning to return this summer for more activities, and there’s no doubt we’ll stay here again! ~ PNJIRA H
